This is my favorite cartoon. I thought I'd share.

Hobbes got him in the head. That should count more than the heart, right?

I don't know. He was wearing a helmet.

i beleive that the underlying message of this cartoon is very intriguing. Even though war may suck, i disagree with the notion proposed by the cartoon that it is a stupid game. although war is evil, it is often a necessary evil.

yeah, calvin might do a saving private ryan, in which case hobbes would win.

Most technological advances happen during times of war.

When I was a kid, we played "Cowboys and Indians" and it was a very stupid game.

Have you ever seen _Born on the 4th of July_ (the best Tom Cruise movie ever IMO)? The opening scene is there to remind us that kids play war, and that normalizes it, and that can lead to tragedy.

Too bad about our Hobbesian nature.

Will someone else respond to Wilson's comment please?

when you say technological advances, do you mean it in a good or bad way? I don't really see how something like a nuclear bomb could help us.

I like this comic, it puts into light just how stupid war can be sometimes, and while it can be a necessary evil like greg said, more often than not it is an unnecessary evil

"In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed — they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -The Third Man

I think that this cartoon is hilarious in a commical sense, but so sad in literal terms. Bill Watterson is an amusing realist who shows that human nature can be quite distorted at times.

+ Calvin and Hobbes is awesome. If only everyone were as creative as Calvin...

How much of our nation is based on the military? Factories, service men and women, and the ability to enforce our beliefs! Without having someone to want to go to war with, a.k.a. world peace almost, our nation would crumble. So lets hope there is always some communist nation around.
