It really annoys me how President Bush can veto a Children's Health Care Bill because he says it is too expensive, but can ask for an extra 42 Billion dollars from Congress to fight the wars currently in Iraq and Afghanistan. Without adding this increase, the war in Iraq is already costing the Pentagon about 2 billion dollars a week. The President is just piling on more and more money for this hopeless cause. Although I see why President Bush would want to aid our troops and give them as many resources as possible, the greatest help to the troops would be to get them out of enemy territory. I feel all this money being sent overseas could be put to better use to improve life in America such as health care for children. I feel the President should just admit he made a mistake and get America out of Iraq. While I see why it is irresponsible for America to just abandon Iraq, there are no clear or logical solutions other than cutting ties with Iraq.
Do you believe there is any way to effectively deal with this Iraq issue? And also do you believe it is justified to put so much money in a war where winning is almost impossible?

This kind of thing annoys me too. The war in Iraq is a lose-lose situation for everyone. It's been that way for a while. The Clash sums it up best: "If I go there will be trouble, but if I stay there will be double." There is no effective way to deal with the "Iraq problem" now. But just getting out is our best option. There's people that hate America. There's always gonna be those kind of people. We can't kill them all. We shouldn't kill them all, anyway. No matter how long we stay in Iraq, losing lives and money, people are gonna hate us. We should just get used to it, and spend the money instead on security and bills like this Childrens Health Care Bill.
In other words: George Bush is not listening to 50 Cent: "If they hate just let them hate and watch the money pile up." Maybe we just need to reflect on the state of the country when a gangster rapper's economic plan makes more sense than the President's.
While it is annoying that Bush would veto Health Care because of spending costs but then ask for more money for the war in Iraq, can we really expect him to do anything else? This really is nothing new and I would have expected it from him.
I agree with Justin. While it may be bad that Bush is asking for billions of dollars for the war instead of using it for healthcare it really isn't anything new. He has always perfered the war over children's healthcare.
I think Bush is being ridiculous!. I agree with Justin though, you can totally expect Bush to pull something like this. I thibk that it is really important that we focus on solving our problems at home before we try to fix the world. money is important and hard tp find and it seems so backwards to be spending so much money abroad so that we dont have enough to fix our problems at home.
I agree. It is unecessary for us to be spending all of our money on Iraq when our country needs help. I think that if Bush is going to be spending our money he could at least be spending it on making peace, not war.
President Bush is creating a bad image of himself by doing this. By rejecting a health care bill, Bush is being seen as someone who does not care enough to give money to needy children around the nation. However, by rejecting that proposal AND asking for more money for Iraq also gives the impression that he is selfish and that his own goals are more important than the American citizens.
