I just came across this cartoon and thought it was amusing and fairly accurate considering all the weight that is put upon the first primaries. Although I think that it would probably be more accurate to consider the president determined after the second state at least...

I agree with Erika that this cartoon is fairly accurate of reality. The presidential candidate who wins the first primary, which, for this year, is the Iowa Caucus, usually has a lot of momentum going into the next primaries and throughout the entire primary season. There are probably a lot of Americans out there who jump on the bandwagon of the candidate who wins the first primary. Since Obama and Huckabee won their respective primaries, they will probably be in good shape for the rest of the primaries. Even though this is probably true, winning one state primary doesn't guarantee anything either. Can't wait for the next primary!
I agree with Paul that a win in Iowa doesn't mean victory. The race is still close and even Obama, in his winning speech, stated that victory still wasn't close. Clinton won the New Hampshire caucus and it is anyone's guess which Democratic candidate will get the nomination.
