Well, I wasn't able to read everything that Andy Olmsted said in his final post before his death, but what I did read I liked very much. In one of his paragraphs Andy says, "If there is any hope for the long term success of democracy, it will be if people agree to listen to and try to understand their political opponents rather than simply seeking to crush them." As I read this a light bulb flickered in my head and reminded me of the Iowa caucus yesterday and the Democratic candidates. I have heard Obama and Clinton several times that the new government needs to work together to get things done instead of quarrelling over partisan issues. I think this is very important. Too many politicians worry that a piece of legislation was created by the opposite party, so they dislike it. This happens a lot. Politicians need to work together to do the best they can to help America, not help themselves get reelected. Although I did not read even 20% of Andy's last post, I encourage that others read more than I did. This guy sounds really smart and sincere.

How must it feel to write something to be posted when you're dead? It makes me shudder...
