I agree. they are worth posting. i think that it sucks that Bush's generals are basically his lap dogs. as citizens, we can never get an accurate picture of what is going on in Iraq while the military is unable to deliver an unbaised report. I hope for more media involvement in the war so that we can see how the war is really going. with luck, we can turn the War on Terror into another Vietnam. this way we will be able to end this war as quickly as possible.

It would be good for America to be able to leave Iraq just like we left Vietnam, without more people dying. But, in Vietnam, you had one side that easily took control of the country. In Iraq, you do have a majority, but the Sunnies still have power, and both sides would be involved in a civil war in a much larger scale if the soldiers left.

Oh, no... the Vietnam War didn't end just because we left. The North and South continued to fight after we stopped helping the South, and although I couldn't find any casualty figures (likely because the US couldn't care less) I'm sure many Vietnamese died.

Many thousands of Vietnamese perished or suffered after the US left the ARVN to fold. I once had a student whose grandfather was buried alive before the rest of the family escaped and came to America.

A meltdown in Iraq won't be pretty, either, but there is a lot of violence and risk in all the scenarios. Watch Iran. The hawks are circling.
