Obama sponsers concerts with anti-gay singer Donnie McClurkin

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/27/obama.gospel/index.html

I think this issue could harm Obama in the Democratic primaries. Even though he issued a statement saying he disagrees with McClurkin (who thinks that homosexuality is a choice), some people may turn against him because he was involved with McClurkin at all. The article specifically states that John Aravosis, a prominent gay blogger, said that Obama was "sucking up to anti-gay bigots."

I really doubt that Obama can win the Democratic Primary, much less the presidency. Too many people dislike his "lack of experience" and issues like this one with McClurkin can only hurt him

I really don't think this issue will hurt Obama because it will disappear before the primaries come up. I think that it's a good thing that Obama stated his personal opinions on a very important issue in the U.S. I'm glad that there is a politician who is not afraid to not be politically correct. Obama does not seem fake, like most presidential candidates are when they are trying to attract voters. What Justin ignores in this article is that Obama has lately been talking about faith and trying to reach out to conservative, religious families. This will help his campaign because for a long time, only Republicans were playing the faith and religion card. I'm glad Obama is doing something different, and personally, I'll probably vote for him.

I think that this may have an affect on Obama because being associated with an anti-gay person may make him appear not accepting and single-minded. Since he is a Democrat, he may be altering the traditional liberal view of accepting homosexuality. He may lose some liberal Democratic supporters in the process, but may also gain some conservative Democrats and Republicans.

I'm liking Obama less and less the more I hear about him. What makes him a Democrat again? There's being honest and there's reaching out to members of the other party, but he gets more and more ridiculous every day. The next we'll see of him, he'll be denying global warming at an NRA rally or something. I was going to vote for him, but his "outreach" efforts are just making me think that there are better candidates out there.

I think that the electorate and expecially the media tend to analyze everything to a riduculous and this event will not be an exception. The media will play a big role in making Obama's choice of sponser a big deal (like this article already has). Personally it's not a huge blow against him but I think with all the media attention and analyzing it will hust him a little more than it helps him (if he was aiming for it to help him at all).

If only people focused on platforms and ideas for when a candidate would be in office. As we learned while watching the debate video, these candidates are winning and losing campaigns with witty jokes and badly worded "scandals."
At the same time though right now I'm currently for Hilary and I think Obama should be a running mate? She has more experience...
