For Thought...

Ex-Republican Nominee Giuliani will announce his endorsement of McCain tomorrow.

AHHnold Shwarzzeenager, aka the Terminator, is praising (but not endorsing) both McCain and Obama.

What ever happened to Ron Paul? and why hasn't he dropped out yet? He only has three more delegates than Giuliani's one...

In only seven days, more than 1,000 delegates will be dispersed throughout both party hopefuls!

What would be better..
McCain / Obama? or McCain / Clinton?
I'm really basically seeing one or the other.

I agree and I think that McCain will be the Republican candidate. Even though I really didn't think that a Republican would be elected president in the general election, I think that it might be possible now. McCain is not extreme in any way (many Democrats could live with him) and is a white male. I think that it would be a bummer if, in the end, neither Obama nor Clinton are elected considering how far they have come.

Why aren't there any concern about McCain's age? He would be over 72 years old, the oldest president ever at time of ascent to office. The dude is too old!

Giuliani came in third in Florida's Republican primary, considering how much he was counting on that state and how far behind he is, its no wonder he dropped out. I think his stardom since September 11th wore off and brought down his votes. Also, a little update, John Edwards has pulled out of the race too.

In regards to Victoria, I agree that there was a good reason for Giuliani dropping out of the race. He thought he would have a much higher percentage in this state, and when he was third with a close fourth behind him, he didn't stand much of a chance. It is important though that we see the impact of his endorsement of McCain. This could tip the scale in McCain's favor making it even more likely that he will become the nomination for the Republican party.

Edwards, on the other hand, dropped out of the race as well, but hasn't endorsed any of the democratic candidates. As he was generally placing third quite strongly in the various primaries, an endorsement from him would give that candidate a noticeable advantage. He may be one of the big deciding factors in who grabs the Democratic Nomination.

Derek,
You are right. Because McCain is soon to acquire the endorsement of the Terminator, he will most likely win in California, home to the most (170) Republican delegates. However, Giuliani's endorsement will be largely influential as New York has the second most delegates (101).

Eddie,
Old man? or Rich Mormon? That is the question...

I think it will be a close race between the Republicans and Democrats whoever is chosen on either side. However, if it is McCain v Hillary, that might be a really close race because so many people - including Democrats - don't like Hillary. I think more people won't vote for Hillary than the number of people who won’t vote for McCain. McCain is well respected and is pretty moderate, a stark contrast to the other Republican candidates. At least he believes in photosynthesis and evolution...
But nonetheless, it will definitely be a close call. I think if Obama is up against McCain, Democrats will have a more fighting chance to win the Presidency because Hillary’s not the party nomination. Also, in response to Eddie's question about McCain's age, I heard him on an interview once and someone asked about his age and whether it would be too old for now and a possible reelection in 4 years. His response was that for right now, he's focusing on the present, and not in four more years, when he's older. I don't think age is an issue. It's only an issue when he has health problems and might die while in office. At least he doesn’t have the health of Cheney...that would be an issue.

I agree with Derek and victoria, it was time for Giuliani to drop out. He lost in in his own state and was getting no where with voters. now the race is more competitive and the voters can focus on real candidates.

What I think is ironic is that Clinton is running as the "experienced" candidate, how does she compare to McCain? Maybe compared to Obama she's experienced, but to McCain? I think not. I'm for Obama!!!!

Yeah, I think that Obama would fair much better against McCain than Hillary would. People have such strong feelings against her (she's very polarizing), that McCain would probably destroy her in the general election.
